Brand New Orleans Art Gallery proudly presents a solo exhibition of paintings by Ida Floreak. Ascent ties the scientific with the religious and the analytical with the mystical. This stunning still life collection brings forth the artists' contemporary perspective on the spiritualism of New Orleans.

Raised outside of organized religion, Ida turned to science and the natural world to answer questions about our origins and purpose, finding meaning and beauty in the mathematical structure and symmetry of natural objects. Her work explores the tension between scientific study and religiosity and attempts to find a balance between the spirit of inquiry and a sense of awe inspired by the natural world. Ida’s paintings emphasize ritual and our search for answers to the unanswerable questions. Her work aims to bring these disparate elements together with a spirituality that is informed by science, science that is informed by awe, and art that is informed by inquiry.
