Curators' Collection: Behind the Lines Tour
Step inside The National WWII Museum’s private Center for Collections & Archives and climb into a B-24 Liberator! It’s all part of Behind the Lines, an exclusive Curators’ Collection tour. During four hours of behind-the-scenes experiences, guests will handle rarely seen artifacts alongside historians, and attend a curator's luncheon with the specialists who help develop Museum exhibits and programming. A second-day Museum Campus Pass is included, allowing tour members to explore every facet of the Museum’s public space at their leisure. Museum Flagship Tour: Campaigns of Courage Guided Tour
Follow American citizen soldiers through World War II in this exclusive small-group guided tour of the immersive, interactive Campaigns of Courage: European and Pacific Theaters pavilion. During the two-hour experience through the Museum’s signature exhibits, an official Museum guide will walk you through the chronological narrative of each theater of combat, bringing to life the drama, sacrifices, personal stories, and strategies of America’s campaign to defeat the Axis powers and preserve freedom. Your guide will also highlight several artifacts, displays, and exhibit panels during the tour, which explores how the Allies secured victory in the 20th century’s titanic struggle—a fight for civilization itself.
In The Duchossois Family Road to Berlin: European Theater Galleries, you’ll travel the road to victory from the sands of North Africa, through the skies of Europe, across the beaches of Normandy, and into the ruins of the Third Reich. In the Richard C. Adkerson & Freeport-McMoRan Foundation Road to Tokyo: Pacific Theater Galleries, you’ll journey through fierce battles at sea, into Guadalcanal’s “Green Hell,” and across Pacific island footholds toward a decisive atomic endgame.
This exclusive experience is offered at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (based on availability and seasonal demand). The price of the Campaigns of Courage Guided Tour includes a Museum Campus Pass, allowing tour members to explore every facet of the Museum’s public space at their leisure before and after their tour. Curators' Collection Tour: Coffee with a Curator
Start your morning right with a delightful specialty coffee and a chat with one of The National WWII Museum curators! As part of this exclusive Curators’ Collection tour, you’ll get the chance to ask an expert curator questions about the Museum, World War II, or discuss your personal connections to the war before taking a tour of the private Center for Collections & Archives. There, you’ll spend two hours learning about artifacts that are not on exhibit or seen by the public. The more than 250,000 items in the Museum’s Collections include medals and badges, weapons, uniforms, documents, periodicals, photographic images, film, posters, personal accounts, maps, books, artwork, and scrapbooks (artifact selection varies by tour). You’ll learn the history of some of these WWII artifacts and how they are preserved for future generations.
This experience is offered on select Mondays. As part of this exclusive tour, you’ll also get a Museum Campus Pass, which gives tour members the chance to explore the rest of the Museum based on their own interests and at their leisure after the tour ends. Curators' Collection Tour: Into the Vault Tour
Step inside The National WWII Museum’s private Center for Collections & Archives and take an intimate two-hour journey into WWII history through rarely seen artifacts that give voice to the American experience in World War II. Through this unique opportunity, guests will get to see Museum artifacts currently not on display or seen by the public. A Museum curator will be your guide on this exclusive experience, which will include detailed descriptions of the processes used to preserve and store the Center’s priceless items, as well as backstage insight into the work that goes into developing the Museum’s exhibits and programs.
This exclusive experience is offered on select Monday mornings. The price of the Into the Vault Tour includes a Museum Campus Pass, allowing tour members to explore every facet of the Museum’s public space at their leisure after their tour.
