Opening Reception

LeMieux Galleries is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by Billy Solitario.  Southern Feast will open with a reception on Saturday, June 1st, from 6-8 p.m., and will remain on view until July 27th.  LeMieux Galleries’ is open Monday-Saturday from 10-5:30.

Billy Solitario finds beauty among the sand dunes, coastal savannas, and barrier islands along the Gulf Coast.   In Southern Feast, a series of still life paintings, Solitario honors the rainbow of colors that can found in the crabs, oysters, and crawfish native to the shallow waters found on these southern coasts.

Billy Solitario received his MFA from Tulane University and his BFA from the University of South Florida. He currently lives in New Orleans with his wife and child and teaches at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art. He has received many awards and honors for his work, including being one of the “21 under 31” in Southwestern Art in 2002.
