STELLA JONES GALLERY will feature Master Quilter, PHYLLIS STEPHENS in her second solo exhibition in which she continues to use innovative and cutting edge techniques for her mixed media quilts. This exhibition drew its inspiration from HARRY JONES, the very stylish late co-owner of SJG who was well-known for wearing bow-ties. STEPHENS repurposes JONES’ ties as well as others, in varying colors, sophisticated patterns and fabrics throughout each of her works, while using the broad theme of LOVE - an ode to the marriage and professional partnership of STELLA and HARRY JONES.

Notable collectors include Oprah Winfrey, Billy D. Williams, Denzel & Paulette Washington, Aretha Franklin, Phylicia Rashad, Roland Martin and Tom Joyner. Selected corporate/museum collectors include The Trumpet Awards/Turner Broadcasting, Atlanta; Black Enterprise, New York; Citi-Corp Group, New York; International Fine Art Museum of Ghana, Ghana, and Musée National d'Art Moderne, Paris, France.

She has also collaborated with Wynton Marsalis, Quilting and Jazz - Two True American Art Forms at the Lincoln Center in 2007 and in 2010 published a fine art portfolio of limited edition prints and a quilt story book as a tribute to the children of the Civil Rights Movement, with a Foreword by Ambassador Andrew Young.
