We are privileged to introduce Althlone Clarke in his inaugural solo exhibition at Stella Jones Gallery. His two- and three-dimensional assemblages pay homage to the identities and experiences of the African diaspora community. Clarke holds a deep belief that objects embody distinct memories and energies, each carrying its own narrative that encompasses its origins, journey, and the moment it came into his possession.
Clarke’s exceptional skill in crafting compositions exudes balance and harmony. In today’s consumer-driven world, often characterized by a penchant for disposability, his work inspires a renewed appreciation for materials alongside communal narratives.
“Experimentation is the lifeblood of my work. It is not merely about discovery but rather the channeling and translating of knowledge from various sources.”
Clarke's work has been showcased at prominent institutions, including the Kentucky Art Center, Carnegie Visual Arts Center, and the Auburn Avenue Research Library, as well as in private collections throughout the United States.
